At first it was between two people, me (Annabeth Chase) and Antonio (a gladiator). It was simply just a hope, not really competitive, just friendly. It was just amusing, nothing big. Until Antonio decided to put 24 tickets in. That was when everything changed.
It started by Ava giving the threat of using all her dollars to buy 84 tickets. She wasn’t really, she wanted to intimidate Antonio. Then Olivia (the mad hatter) and Nathan (the crazy tourist) joined in. In case you don’t know Nate is in the other class, room 14. Nathan didn’t put any tickets in, he was a guard. Olivia on the other hand put about 50 in and left it. She, because at the time she didn’t care if she won, was a guard as well.
The first mistake shone soon after: We bribed our guards with tickets, to secretly put our name on some
of their tickets and slip it in their self’s. At first it worked out but then it got suspicious, after all when Olivia and Nathan went to deposit more tickets every five seconds. Then things got messy.
Shelby and Courtney (aka Thing One and Thing Two) showed up. With about 75 tickets. F or the scarecrow.
They had more than all of us put together. They just sat by the scarecrow and wrote, and wrote, and, wrote.
Since they sat by the scarecrow, we decided to also. Matthew joined us and put in 40. A few minutes later, the pact was forgotten, history. Now it was a desperate race. After a minute Olivia left, and asked to get the scarecrow if she won and to give it to her the next day. I agreed. Soon the cake walk people got annoyed. They asked us to leave, because our prize was in the middle, next to the pail. So we did, reluctantly.
Then it was time to get the results: We held our breath. Of course they announced ours last. The winner was………………………Thing One!! The race was over, she had won.
The race was for our Scarecrow.
