Today we had writing critique. This was the first time that we did writing critique in 4th grade.
What you do is Ms. Chown pulls out 2 popcicle sticks (the popcicle sticks have our names on them) and those 2 people get assigned a paragraph about someone’s early childhood. Then you have to read through the paragraph twice and write at least 5 things you like about the author’s work & 1 thing they could tell you more about.
When we first started giving critique nobody realized how important it was to think about how our classmates would react to what we wrote, but in the end everybody was very happy with the critique they got. This helped us think happy thoughts, learn more about our classmates, and we had a lot of fun while doing this.

Note from Ms. Chown
We are also doing the writing critique to help us learn more about writing by reading each other's work. Remember - if you see something you like, try to figure out how you could use it in your own work!
