Hello! My name is Sara and I am in Ms. Chown's class. In this class, you will sing, laugh, celebrate and most importantly, you will have fun.
You will enjoy being in this class a lot. We even play games. During morning meeting you will greet everyone and you will be timed. After you are timed the next day, you will try to beat the score. The reason we time our selves is so that we can move onto different things a lot faster and so that we improve.
Hopefully, you will get to make cushions and get on the news. Also, we have really fun field trips and, we are in Yellow Book Road all the time.
If you like to sing, you will really enjoy this class. If you are the person that likes gross things, you will enjoy a show we watch sometimes in class.
Never forget about the projects we do because they make differences in people's lives and you have a lot of fun doing them. A lot of the projects will always have to do with a place. For example, When we made stories, we were in Yellow Book Road a lot. When we made our pillows, we were connecting with Dewey Elementary. Also, when we made our portraits and biographies we were connecting with Con Pane ( the best bakery in Liberty Station).
One of my favorite projects was Operation Story Cushion because we were making handmade pillows for others and it made a difference in the world. It was an amazing experience interviewing the person then taking the design and adding or taking away some things. Then getting to start untangling knots, cutting fabric, and sewing the design.
When we are done sewing the letters and appliques (which you don’t have to have) we would sew the outside( by machine) and put the pillow in and then finishing the pillow by sewing it at the top so it would be closed.
I also really liked giving them the pillow because when you would give it to them a big smile would fall onto their face (meaning that they really liked it). They would say “thank you” and you would feel really good inside.
Engineering challenges in this class are super fun. They can relate to stories that we are reading and just other amazing projects.
