Last week we shared our biographies with our community in Liberty Station. They look amazing on the wall, so you might be wondering how we wrote them. This blog post will explain how from start to finish.
First Ms. Chown picked sticks for our biography partners. Then we interviewed them about where they were born, how old the are and what their full name is. Next we read lots of early life paragraphs from different biographies so we knew what the ingredients of a great early life paragraph was and then we wrote our own from all the evidence we got. Then we got critique from other people in the classroom.
To help our biographers know what to write about us we started writing and expert project (that is about five paragraphs about what we are an expert in). Then we wrote extra evidence like what was our biggest struggle, happiest thing you have ever done etc.
Then we wrote the plan of the biography on a piece of paper. We started by planning each paragraph on a piece of paper and then we wrote our biographies on lined paper we wrote about three paragraphs then we started to write on a computer. It took us about two days then we finally finished but then we figured out that it was just the beginning.
We printed it out and then we got a checklist critique to make sure we had all the good ingredients in our biographies. After that we did a truthful critique where your partner would critique you on if it has anything left out our not true. Finally it was our last critique - our writing partner critique. This critique helped us spot any mistakes like missing words or capitals or periods. By the end of these critiques, the biographies were ready to be published.
So bye, bye and good day!
