What seemed like two minutes later, we were going upstairs to High Tech High, where there were a lot of people from different schools around the country having breakfast. We gave them flyers for our exhibition and told them about it (several people said that they would come). Then Cruz and Ivan made a speech on an actual stage! Then we went back downstairs and Annia and I finished the speech. After everyone finished, we were ready to go to Yellow Book Road for our exhibition! I felt like I would explode with excitement! We walked all the way, so it took about ten minutes to get there. The second we got into Yellow Book Road, we set up. I set up next to the door with my group, the Fundraising Team (Annia, Cruz, Nick, Anelisa, and me).
There was a donation box, a banner that said, “Room 15 Supports Words Alive,” the poster, and a piece of paper that had some interesting facts. For the first thirty minutes, we read extracts from our stories outside. For example… “ This is an extract from ‘Agent One’ by Mikaila Schellenberg. This is after I’ve saved the day yet again! A week later, I was having a wonderful vacation in the Bahamas. I was laying on the hot sand and sipping a tropical smoothie, when I got an emergency phone call from the President, “Agent 1! I need your help! The King of Spain has gone missing! It’s up to you to save him! I sighed to myself thinking, for a secret agent, theres no such thing as vacation.” My extract was unusual because I read the ending for my extract. But… before we read our extracts, Ella gave an extraordinary speech. Then we said our extracts. There were butterflies in my stomach when it was my turn. After that, we rushed inside and waited for people to come in.
Soon enough, people came streaming in. I was enjoying it, so the time passed extremely quickly. I thought five minutes had passed but really an hour had passed! A person from Words Alive came and told people even more about Words Alive than we knew. We ended up raising about $300 for Words Alive! Pretty soon, our exhibition was over. That night, I was so relieved that our exhibition had gone well, that I couldn’t help but smile! 🌟
