In class we studied cave art. We studied cave art because we are a class of adventurers and cavemen made cave art so people would know what their adventures were.
To help us learn more about cave art, we read a book called The Secret Cave written by Emily Arnold McCully. It is about four teenagers who find a cave with pretty cave art. After that we crumbled up brown papers and then we ripped the sides off because we wanted our paper too look old. Then we made our own cave art with oil pastels. We used colors like red, brown, orange, yellow and black. We drew people, animals and hands. We learned that art has changed since early people, and that caves were the holy places of cave men. We now know about early humans a lot more than we used to. The cave men were really good artists. They also lived with animals that we have never seen before and we can learn from them about what life was like back then. Some of the animals they lived with were wooly mammoths and saber tooth tigers. cave art should be protected from grafiti and damage because they are very rare and fragile and a work of art. We really liked the cave art and we hope to see some real cave art. Thats it for today! =D by Will and Kyle

I think we may have to take a family adventure to find some cave art! Do you remember looking at hieroglyphics during our trip to Lake Havasu?
