“Five more minutes!” shouted Ms. Chown as the class was playing. I had just finished a 2 quesadillas with some chips and guacamole (it was really yummy) and was tying my shoes on a rock. I tugged and twisted my shoelace. After I was done tying my shoes, I jumped from rock to rock like a gymnastics person (although at the time I would be at level 0). I jumped off the last rock and ran to my tent to find Ian and Rigel. |
“ Yo!“ I said as I heard Ian and Rigel were talking. “Can you open up the tent?“ Nothing came back. I asked again. Nothing came back. It was like I was talking to a malfunctioning satellite. Finally some astronauts fixed the malfunctioning satellite, the door zipped open. “Hey we have to get ready!”
“Ok!” and Ian and Rigel got up.
Dust flew into my face as if an evil sorceress was sending tiny dust aliens to earth just to kick dust into my face, but I knew the evil aliens were the people in front of my shoes. I waved my hat around but it didn't help so I had to rub my eyes. The sun's searing heat pierced my back like a not so hot laser. I saw mother nature's soot black paint coat on almost all the trees outer shell. It gave the trees a gleaming coat of black. Not even the world's best painter could do this kind of art. It was truly beautiful. I was glad when the class stopped in a shady place to write. |
“Catch” I said as I threw the fluffy stuffed animal spider to Will (Will is a kid with long brown hair and is one of my best friends ). We were playing hot potato. The game is basically simple. You throw the ball or (stuffed animal spider) to another person. That person has to throw it to someone else really quickly or else you will get burned. It was especially fun in our tent. Then a horrible sound came from the main campground
"Gather round!" said Ms.Chown.
"Oh, man!" said Will and Ian with a perfect chorus. I hurried out of the tent to get on my hiking boots.
I viewed a big jar full of little gadgets as I was waiting on a log. The whole class was packed in one campground with alot of chairs and 2 logs so Ms. Chown was sitting in the middle of the circle. She explained all about this scavenger hunt and the stuff we were going to do. Personality I thought it was really cool but even more cool when she announced the gadgets. Each of us were going to pair up with another kid and get a disposable camera, a sheet (for the scavenger hunt ), and a gadget which had a compass, a thermometer, and a magnifying glass all in one tiny thing! Two groups were going to pair up so we could share a walkie-talkie. Me and Will paired with Ian and Peter for the walkie-talkie and set off.
I was carrying my Adventure, Adventure, Arrghh! (this is the name of our project) handbook and the tiny gadget with the magnifying glass, the compass, and the thermometer and Will was carrying the disposable camera. The only problem was I was carrying a water bottle (which I really didn't need) and Will was not carrying his Adventure, Adventure, Arrghh! handbook so we had to walk to our tent. I put down my stuff and ran. |
"Right back at yah!“ said Will as he threw Ian's fluffy spider ball at me. The scavenger hunt was over and there was a tremendous amount of bubbling laughter in our tent. Our group was having a lot of fun. We played for a while (because dinner was getting ready), but when Ms. Chown shouted "Dinner time!” I had to crawl out of my tent and get on my hiking boots and head out.
Dinner was really thought out and was much better in the wild then in a restaurant. The hamburgers were the best they could be! I also had a really fun time playing hide and seek. Ms. Chown reported a missing walkie-talkie and the whole class had to search and find it. But I never expected it to be under rice and ketchup bottles!
The whole camping crew was crowded over the fire trying to use flint and steel to light a fire. Finally it was my turn. No kid had started a fire yet. I struck as hard as I could. I couldn't do it, I tried again. Finally it was someone else's turn. Yet the first adult who tried sparked a big roaring fire!
"The yellow submarine, The yellow submarine..." The class was singing campfire songs and right now we were obviously singing The Yellow Submarine. Ian and Emily’s mom was playing guitar and this was adding a lot of fun to the songs. We were about to have smores!
