Being Open-minded
leaving you a bit behind, so I'm going to start at the beginning. So for our Adventure, Adventure, Arrghh we are trying to solve questions like: What are the characteristics of an adventurer and why?
Today we were starting on that question. Our teacher asked us to think of all the characteristics of an adventurer. She also gave us a sheet of Common Character traits to help us. Each table had to read through these and select the ones that we thought might be the characteristics that adventurers need. I was the writer for my table. Here is what we wrote down:
- Mellow
- Cooperative
- Honest
- Responsible
- Kind
A few weeks later, Ms. Chown wanted us to think some more about the characteristics of an adventurer. This time we needed to think about which characteristic we wanted to improve on and why. We had to create a mini poster to show the characteristic and also explain why we had chosen it. The characteristic that I picked was open minded. I chose this one because I want to improve on flexibility and resilience and I think you need to be open minded to do both. We also had to shape our words into something that our words meant. For example Ms. Chown’s word was flexibility. She wrote the letters so they looked very flexible!
I think I like this activity because it was fun and it was also hard. In fact for me it was really hard. I had to do a lot of drafts and at some points it was frustrating. I also really liked this activity because it's definitely more fun than writing just plain text ! I learned that sometimes things are a lot harder than they might seem if you're trying your best.

The Road to Success
DING! An idea popped into my head! Successful, I want to achieve being successful. But I had no time to start because my brother had an orthodontist appointment (that means a dentist appointment) so I couldn’t finish my characteristics of an adventurer mini poster.
Wait, I could finish it because Ms.Chown told me to take it home! So, I took it to my brothers orthodontist appointment. But when I was there I messed up. Luckily, before I left school, Ms.Chown had given me an extra piece of paper, so I got my pencil and started working.
I finished my work just on time before we left my brothers orthodontist appointment. Before we left, I had to return the pencil to the front desk. When I got home, I added sparkles because Ms.Chown told the class to make their characteristics of an adventurer project stand out from others. When I was at school thinking of a characteristic of an adventurer, I felt stuck. Now I feel very proud of myself because the poster was a success. This means that I accomplished being successful! Looking back, I learned what a characteristic is and how to be successful.
