On December 13th, 6th grade at High Tech Middle (HTM) had an exhibition and Room 15 from Explorer Elementary walked across to go and see it.
We went to the exhibition because we are studying animals that we picked. Their project is a lot like our project. In the end they made up their animals because they picked an animal each and then got paired up with another person to mix their animals together. They made up stories for each animal, (the animal one person picked, the other animal the other person picked) and the made up animal. They either made a scientific story like:
Or they made a non-fiction story like they make up stories that are about the animal and a story about it’s life. This is the part which is similar to our project.
The HTM buddies made coloring books to go with the scientific or non-fiction stories. In the coloring books they had the stories stapled to the coloring part of the packet and they had to do a coloring part of the packet. The 6th graders had to do the animal that one person picked and the animal that the other person picked and the scientific animal like the made up animal that the partners made together and they had to do the habitat behind the animal like where and what it lives in eg. the rainforest with a jaguar in the mountains.
When we arrived at the exhibition, there were a ton of 6th grade students to choose from. We chose one person that had a lot of things to color. I liked this because it meant that I didn’t have to go to another person. Instead, I could color the whole thing and read the story. This meant that I didn’t have to start one and not finish it (in that case, you have to wait until aftercare or so you have to wait until you go home).
My favorite part of going to the HTM exhibition was reading about the made up animals and doing the coloring. Going to HTM is important to me because I want to go there when I grow older. It is kind of like seeing my future!
P.S. My brother is in 6th grade at HTM but I didn’t get to see him.
