I was terrified. I knew I had a great speech, but, I was the first one to give a speech. I was the leader. Which meant I had an extra l-o-n-g speech. The words barely came out “Hi everyone!...”
Wait, hold on. Let’s go back to the beginning of that day… “Wake up Nora!” “Why do I have to wake up early today? It’s Sunday!” “It’s Monday.” “Uuuuuugggh,” That was the conversation between my dad and I before I got up that morning. Over the weekend, I had finished my first partners’ [Hailey] cushion. I was so relieved! But as I walked into the classroom that morning, I knew it would be a full day of work.
Four hours and 20 minutes later, I was working during lunch to finish my letter for LaNiya. One hour later I was (almost literally) jumping off the walls! I had finally finished! I forgot to mention I stayed in for most of P.E! It was all worth it though, because at the exhibition, I gave my extra long speech. Everyone was laughing, nodding along. I had a lot of fun up there.
At the end of the exhibition, I gave out my pillows. I gave the first pillow to Hailey. I heard that after I left she cried a little. I gave my second pillow to LaNiya. She didn’t know me, but, she loved the pillow I made for her. I am SO glad I was able to make both pillows. “Dear LaNiya and Hailey every stitch in these pillows are sewn with love. I really hope you like them. Love, Nora.” That was my mini speech. I knew it by heart. I’m overjoyed that both Hailey and LaNiya love their pillows. I wish I could have done more for them.
Love,
Nora
