A high-pitched note scraped against my ears, the chime had been rung. Everything went quite except the scrunch of the soles of peoples shoes.T hen Ms.Chown whispered “Remember this is a chalk talk, everything should be a 0 noise level” and then we got dismissed. You see a chalk talk is where Ms.Chown tapes a bunch of huge paper on a wall in the auditorium and also tapes a regular size paper that has a question on it, for example one of Ms. Chown’s questions was (for this chalk talk we were doing class room agreements) what noise should be in the class room at different times. My answer was “there should be a certain volume for each thing we do (for example math should be a 3-4 volume). Lots of people drew a star next to my comment. A star means that you like the post or you agree with it. For example, in answer to another question, someone wrote that you should never bully some one. I agreed with that so I drew a star next to it. I think there were a lot of people who really wanted a class pet. I would be ok with a class pet but I didn't draw a star next to the posts that said “class pet”. I really think chalk talk is the best way to talk silently and talk loudly at the same time.Even the person at the front desk didn't notice us because we were so quier! Now we all know what the class wants for classroom agreements. I also like this activity because it feels really good that someone draws a star next to your post, it really makes you feel good. Someone even wrote next to my post “this is a really descriptive post” it made me feel even better! I really hope we get to do chalk talk a lot this year! By Seth |

I love how you challenged yourself to write even more words. It takes time to write more and more words that I can't write more than 300 words and you can write more than 400 words.

Chalk talk sounds like a great idea to request answers to questions and to receive important and thoughtful responses. I might use this idea at my work! I would very much like to see descriptive and detailed comments from friends so the writer has feedback he/she can use for their next blog post. Is my comment helpful or is it too long?
