At the begining of school we filmed our mini plays for the website. We had to act how we should do at school, (we had to practice lining up, walking in the hallway, ask to go to the bathroom, and when we hear the chime). Ms Chown gave us a checklist to help us see if our mini plays were ready to be filmed. Tomorrow we will watch the plays that we recorded and see if we want them to go on the website or whether we would like to do another take.
Then we went to science we picked out a book that we like, then we wrote what scientists do. Then we wrote our hopes, wishes and dreams like studying rocks and minorals.
After recess we listened to the story of the Gruffalo. Some of us knew this from before but many of us didn't realise that this was an English book. We loved the fact that the mouse used his cunning to stop the other animals from eating him!
Next we started to write a poem to go on our home page so that it is clear that this is our class website, not just Ms. Chown's. At the moment, most of us are not keen on planning, we would rather jump straight in. However, planning helps us collect our ideas and think carefully about what we want to include. If we plan quickly, we will be able to have more time getting on with the actual writing. We will write our poem tomorrow.
This afternoon we worked on our noses - these are the trickiest part of the face as they need the most shading to look realistic. We looked at our nostrils, and the light and dark areas of our nose to try to make them realistic. Here is Courtney's picture. We loved the way that she had tried to shade to show the contours of her face. We also started thinking about face shape in order to draw our whole head tomorrow.
The last thing we did was PE. It was very, very hot!

PS Today was a very special day. For the first time, children from our class started to write, rather than just help with the blog post. So thank you to Stefan, Anjolie and Felipe who worked so hard to bring you the first part of the morning!
