A high-pitched note scraped against my ears, the chime had been rung. Everything went quite except the scrunch of the soles of peoples shoes.T hen Ms.Chown whispered “Remember this is a chalk talk, everything should be a 0 noise level” and then we got dismissed. You see a chalk talk is where Ms.Chown tapes a bunch of huge paper on a wall in the auditorium and also tapes a regular size paper that has a question on it, for example one of Ms. Chown’s questions was (for this chalk talk we were doing class room agreements) what noise should be in the class room at different times. My answer was “there should be a certain volume for each thing we do (for example math should be a 3-4 volume). Lots of people drew a star next to my comment. A star means that you like the post or you agree with it. For example, in answer to another question, someone wrote that you should never bully some one. I agreed with that so I drew a star next to it. I think there were a lot of people who really wanted a class pet. I would be ok with a class pet but I didn't draw a star next to the posts that said “class pet”. I really think chalk talk is the best way to talk silently and talk loudly at the same time.Even the person at the front desk didn't notice us because we were so quier! Now we all know what the class wants for classroom agreements. I also like this activity because it feels really good that someone draws a star next to your post, it really makes you feel good. Someone even wrote next to my post “this is a really descriptive post” it made me feel even better! I really hope we get to do chalk talk a lot this year! By Seth |

Every wednesday we have art. This wednesday we were making box art. Box art is where you draw your favorite thing in a box and make it look realistic by hanging a puff ball with string from the top of the box if you want a cloud. In art they also had fake grass to put on the bottom of the box and it would look like grass.
First we had to draw what we wanted to draw on a postcard to see if we liked it. Then we sharpie-ed them into our boxes and colored them in. Finally we added our realistic supplies to them. Emily’s box looked like a forest, Ivan’s box was a beach with grass . We think it is a great art project and Ms. Tasi should do it in other grades! by:Emily and Ivan On the first day of school we realized that it was hard to remember each others’ personalities. We played some games to get to know each other more. We now know each other a lot more about everyone in the class because we kept on doing games more and more and talking to each other every day.
On the Monday of the 3rd week of school, Ms Chown warned us that on Friday we would do an activity where we had to write one sentence about each person. We started paying more attention to to what others likes and what they like to eat. Time was running out, it was almost friday. Suddenly it was friday. We were so excited for the activity. We wrote something that we know about each other on pieces of paper. It made me feel good because we were writing for our class mates. And then we cut out little strips with our comments about what we knew about each person. Then we each wrote our name at the top of a large sheet of construction paper. We walked around the classroom and glued our strips on the strips of paper for each person onto their sheet. Now we know that we know more about each other! By Ale At morning meeting, we greet each other in a very nice way. We use different greetings every morning. Some of our greetings are: elbow or toe touch, high five, double handshake or fist bump with a sparkle. When we greet each other, we always have to remember to smile, use a clear and happy voice, keep our bodies calm (eg don’t high five too hard!) We also stay standing up until everyone has been greeted. All of these things help everyone to know that we all care about each other. The greeting makes us feel like we belong at Explorer and in Room 15.
Some other things we do at morning meeting are play games and sing songs. We sing songs so that we stretch and get our giggles out. When we sing, it makes us really happy. That's mainly why we do it - because it makes us happy. You can read more about the activities that we do in Ian and We also talk about the day ahead so that we know what is happening. Next week we will start doing sharing too. We are starting off by sharing our favorite books. The end! By Anelisa
This PE we played kickball and we picked teams and then we started playing. We like to play kickball because it is like baseball but you kick the ball. We have to run around 4 bases until you are at home. After that you get back in line. We like PE because we get to play different games and they're fun.

diapers). He built towers out of apples, peaches, modeling clay and pencils. He built an arch out of pancakes and coconut pie and he build a bridge out of shoes and braces and and wood and shoe laces and rulers and fruit roll ups.
That's it from us for today. We think the book is great for several reasons. It's funny, it’s good for kids and it’s about creativity. If you want to be an architect, you can build anything out of fruit and food and chalk and blocks and dirt! Goodbye! By Kyle and Dulce
hat to keep the pythons away. It was made for her best uncle that she loved - his name was Uncle Fred and he worked at the zoo so that hat would have helped him be safe. But when she got to the zoo, her uncle just laughed. When she went home there was her Grandma Rosie who built airplanes. That night she wanted to make a machine to make her grandma fly. In the morning she pulled out her cheese copter then she hopped in it. We thought the cheese copter was really weird! She tried to fly she flew for a little bit. Then she fell her grandma just laughed and then Rosie was surprised because her grandma was hugging her. Her grandma said, "you did it hurray, thats a great first try.” But Rosie said, "but I failed.“
"But you flew at first, and that is perfect." replied her grandma. "You did it, you flew, lets try agin tomorrow." The next day, they used oars, hula-hoops,pipes, propellers, yarn, tennis balls,a baby doll head, a chair, a broom, rope, tape, skis, paint, markers and crayons, oil, belts, glue, scissors, a lamp, and color pencils. And they worked until the sunset. Aunt Rosie tied her head scarf to little Rosie’s head. The next day at Blue River Creek all the kids in 2nd grade built gizmos and gadgets just like Rosie Revere the engineer. Her grandma flew agin high in the sky. And thats the story of Rosie Revere Engineer. By: Addison and Charlotte Ale and ethan's Experience

We went on the slack rope right after rock climbing. The slack rope was really fun and doing it helped us to learn to keep going and to keep our balance.
Once I was at the end I was so excited that I was done, and some of my classmates gave me high fives and cheered for me. This made me feel great. Then we had snack and started writing about our adventures - but that's a different story. Then we all drove back to school. By: Halle and Addison |
